Version 8.1.2 changes include:
- Double and triple click using MS conventions should not have been actioned until button up.
- Under MS mouse conventions, triple click now only selects the current paragraph in word wrap mode, otherwise the current display line is selected.
- Default DOS encoding didn't work in v8 for quick opened, double clicked or dropped files.
- If the default codepage for a document class was UTF-8, but a member file did not contain UTF-8 characters, non-ASCII characters were replaced with '?' when it was opened.

I use TextPad for a number of programming purposes, such as writing HTML code or writing SAS and Mplus and then submitting it in 'batch mode.' TextPad allows you to setup multiple document classes, which allows the editor to behave a little differently depending on the type of file. My font sizes, for example, differ between a SAS command file (*.sas), a SAS output file (*.lst), and a plain text file (*.txt). TextPad allows syntax files that allow the use different colors for different types of keywords. These also differ by class.
Clip libraries have become a great time saver. They hold chucks of text that you can quickly paste into a document. My SAS clip library holds skeleton code for a growing number procedures. I also have clip libraries for Mplus and HTML. The TextPad web site has many more clip libraries and syntax definition files.

This will need edited, as paths to the program files may differ, and could be extended to include additional analysis programs.

I like to open SPSS syntax files in TextPad because most of my files were created for SPSS for Unix. Video maker mac download. It is easy to tell TextPad to open these files, but the SPSS for Windows application creates a problem. Every time SPSS for Windows starts, it resets the default Open command to open the files in SPSS for Windows. To stop this behavior, you have to edit the registry. Change the settings so SPSS files open with TextPad with either the TextPad or Explorer options, but do not start SPSS for Windows. Change the registry setting for .sps to read-only.
To do that, set TextPad to open the .sps files through the Associated Files section of the Preferences. Then open the registry with regedit, regedt32, or similar program, and find .sps under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. Right-click on the .sps key and choose permissions. Finally, uncheck 'Allow' for all users, leaving only 'Read' permissions. SPSS for Windows will no longer change the application that opens .sps files.
